ONE OF THE NOTEWORTHY INSTITUTIONAL DISTINCTIVENESS

 

Generally in all the Colleges, Library is considered as a common a bridge of learning as well general practice of teaching-learning aid. Library is naturally and inevitably available in all Colleges. However, we consider Library is our distinctive practice. It has unique Automation features which is avail only in our Institute in whole Gujarat. The following are the reasons for the same:

 

1.    TWO TIMES PERSISTENTLY AWARD FOR TOP 10 USERS OF INDIA:
Every year library conducts N-List e-resources orientation program especially for P. G. students. We give the full guidance to the students how they can access N-List e-resources on projector. We give them live demonstration to how they active their account in N-List and how they can download full text book. Because of this initiative our college becomes 2 times Top User of N-List in India.

However, the mention awards, we have received in the last 2 years. But this N-list usages on daily bases is our regular practice and follow up. 


2. FULLY WI-FI, COMPUTER AND AIR-CONDITIONED ESTABLISHED READING HALL SEPARATE FOR UG GIRLS-BOYS AND PG GIRLS-BOYS

Library is having a precious Wi-Fi, ICT enabled air- conditioned Reading room and a capacity to accommodate 160 students. We have divided our reading room in two parts. One reading room for U.G. students separate Girls-Boys and other for P.G. separate Girls-Boys students.

4. LIBRARY BLOG:
Library has created blog for giving some online services to our users since 2014. We have provided old question paper on blog by scanning and put it on blog. Students can download old question paper from anywhere. We have also upload study material giving by faculty members of our college and also faculty member’s blog link.

5.    DISPLAY SECTION FOR MAGAZINE & JOURNALS:-

Library has subscribed 30 magazine & journals. In recent competitive time students are doing preparation of competitive examination. As per the user users demand we have subscribed many competitive examination magazine.

6.    ANTI-THEFT PART OF THE LIBRARY RFID MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND FOOT FALLS COUNT APPLICATION

A security gate on library entrance restricts movement of unchecked item by giving alarms. Gates is the anti-theft part of the Library RFID Management System using the same RFID tags embedded in the library items. Each lane is able to track items of about 1 meter and would trigger the alarm system when an un-borrowed item passed through them. The alarm will sound and lights on the gate will flash as patron passes through with the un-borrowed library material. Our Library security systems ensure that foot falls in the library easily get recorded with inbuilt people counter at the RFID security gate in library.

 

7.    STUDENT SELF OPERATED LIBRARY AUTOMATION FOR ISSUING AND RETURNING BOOK:-


a. New Arrivals on Display:
The Library announces the new arrival of books on new arrival display. New arrival display service will inform patron about books processed on different dates during the previous month or week. The Library also announces newly announce government and reputed company requirement notification on New arrival display. New arrival display placed at entrance of the library.

 

b. Middleware software for operating this RFID system.  
We have upgrade our library with SOUL 3.0 software. Recently we have also implemented RFID (radio frequency identification) system in our library. We have installed Middleware software for operating this RFID system.

 

c. Self-Issue-Return Kiosk.
Library is equipped with RFID system which provides self-issue/return/renew of books using Kiosk. Library users can issue/return/renew the books by themselves. This service will be operational during the library hours. The users can use the Kiosk (in front of stack room) in the library for this service. After issue or renewal of books through the Kiosk, a print receipt will be issued at the Kiosk.

 

d. Library RFID Smart Card:
Library is offering RFID enabled Library smart card to the Registered Library Members. Smart Card will help user to track their library account and save your time while using library services. We are using MIFARE card. MIFARE is a contactless card technology. Student has to just put their smart card on KIOSK their details automatically show on KIOSK screen. Our smart card is student Id-card and Library card. It’s a combo card for students. So when the student takes the admission in our college and we give them Id-card they will automatically become member of our library.

 

e. Smart Card Printer:-
Library have smart card printer. We are printed all smart card in library so we can issue card to the students as much as faster. If student smart card is damaged or lost we can issue him new card at a time.

 

f. Software for smart-card:-
Library has purchased Cardpresso software for creating smart- card.

 

g. Book Drop Station:
Our Library initiated a Book drop box facility in the Library for returning of library books. The book drop station has been placed at the entrance of stack room. This is to facilitate easy return of issued library books by just dropping the books inside the drop station. This is RFID-based drop box facility where the user can drop the issued book at the RFID drop box and the software returns the book automatically. The user will receive a book return receipt from drop box.

 

h. Staff Station:
Staff station is also RFID based services. Its allow Library users issue/return/renew the books at circulation section. This service will be operational during the library hours. We have to just put the smart card on it or book and staff station detected automatically and show it on Middleware software.

 

8.    FUTURE PLANS

The Library intents do perform the following activities in near future.
1. In near future creating library website for giving more online services.
2. Effort has been made to create library Web OPAC.
3. Creation of institutional repository with open source software.
4. Setup of audio/visual-digital Library.
